Helpful Tips
Grab Careem. It's the Kuwait City ride-hailing king. Locals ditched Uber long ago. Reliable cars. Fair fares. No haggling.
Score a KPTC card at major stations. Public buses slash fares to Salmiya and Fahaheel. One swipe. Instant savings.
Airport taxis run on fixed zone rates. Ask the dispatcher for the zone price before you climb in. No surprises.
CityBus express 999 links Kuwait City and Salmiya every 15-20 minutes when traffic bites hardest. Fast track. No sweat.
Common Scams to Avoid
Unofficial porters inside the arrivals hall grab bags from the carousel and push them to the curb, then demand inflated tips. Keep your luggage trolley in sight and politely refuse assistance unless you've arranged an official porter in advance.
Taxis parked directly outside the terminal exit quote a fixed "airport surcharge" that is double or triple the metered fare. Insist on using the official airport taxi dispatch desk inside the terminal where fares are regulated and receipts are issued.
Currency-exchange kiosks closest to the baggage-claim area advertise "no commission" but use a marked-up rate; compare the mid-market rate on your phone first and walk to the landside exchange counters or ATMs where rates are typically closer to bank rates.
